I'm sure that most people that commute through Journal Square have driven into a congestion problem at the intersection of Summit Avenue and Pavonia Avenue at sometime or another. A main contributor of this congestion is the bus stop which is on the southbound side of Summit Avenue between Pavonia Avenue and Van Reipen Avenue.
What happens at this intersection is that a bus will pull over to the right side of Summit Avenue, after picking up/discharging passengers. This bus then pulls out into the left lane of traffic to make a left turn onto Pavonia Avenue or to Lott Street. This causes both lanes of traffic to become impassable. This pattern is unsafe for motorists and pedestrians.
Suggestion! How about moving this bus stop back one block and putting it between Van Reipen Avenue and Cottage Street. Doing this will both give the bus an opportunity to get into just one lane of traffic safely and allows passage of other vehicles. This also can possibly aid in safer pedestrian traffic.
