Hoboken Councilwoman Dawn Zimmer announced Thursday that she'll run for mayor of Hoboken. Some believe she'll split the "reform" vote when Councilwoman Beth Mason runs.

Last year, Mason said that she had failed to support Zimmer in her runoff because Zimmer's campaign accepted help from the county machine, the HCDO. This rift between the women and their supporters became public after Councilman Peter Cunningham sent around a letter saying he was concerned about what it could mean for the future of "reform" politics in Hoboken. (See that story HERE.)

Taking a cue from recent political columns (including one from our own Al Sullivan) and rampant rumors about whom the HCDO might support in Hoboken this time, the local news blog HobokenNow asked Dawn if the HCDO will be helping in her campaign this year, and how she feels about possibly splitting the vote with Mason. Read their excellent writeup HERE....

....BUT will outsiders support other candidates in Hoboken too? And what do the polls say? Check out Al Sullivan's political column this weekend HERE starting Sunday to read a lot more about these issues!
